January 23, 2012 8:15am On the Road to ….
I am on the road to college. I have been for 13 years now. The road began on my first day of Kindergarten in Mrs. Ortiz’s classroom at East Elementary. I was a nervous wreck that day; I clung to my mom’s leg like glue. Now that college is only 7½ months away I’m starting to see the end of the road. I can’t believe there really is an end to this road. I am so ready to be done with high school and move on to the next chapter in my life. On this long road to college there have been several bumps but somehow I’ve found a way to get over them. The road to college is something I’ll never forget because it’s full of good times and good memories. I have met so many new friends that I will never forget because they have made such an impact on my life. Oh the road to college will never be forgotten…it’s been one fun and crazy ride, full of memories that will last a life time. I hope the road during and after college is just as good, if not better. I will truly miss being on the road to college.
March 12, 2012 8:17am Best Thing in the World
Being an aunt is the best thing in the world, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. March 12, 2005 I became an aunt for the third time, yes that’s right the third time. I know it’s not normal to be an aunt at age twelve, but who ever said my family was normal.
March 11, 2005 at 10:35pm we got the phone call from my oldest brother, JD, saying he was taking Sarah to the hospital because her water had just broken and it was time for the baby to be born. My mom came and woke me up saying, “It’s baby time, your brother and Sarah are at the hospital.” I jumped out of bed and headed to the hospital. I arrived at the hospital at 11:00pm and waited for my new niece or nephew to be born. After a long night of Sarah being in pain and being in labor for 15½ hours, my nephew John Carter was born at 1:37pm, weighing 9lbs. 14.5oz. and 20 in. long. My brother’s dream had come true, he finally got his son and I finally got a nephew! It was the best thing in the world. My life sure changed on that sunny March day.
Waking up today realizing that Carter is now seven years old make me feel really old, and to think that he is in first grade already amazes me. Even though Carter can be a handful at times, I love him more than anything and wouldn’t trade him for the world.
I also have 5 other blessings that this day reminds me of and that make being an aunt the best thing in the world. The other five are: MacKenzy Nicole who was born on December 2, 2002, Katience Jade who was born on May 23, 2003, Kaelee Nichole who was born on October 31, 2008, Jaelyn Rae who was born on April 9, 2009, and finally Ayden Lee who was born on July 29, 2010. Someday there will be more added to this list but for now six is enough! J
April 23, 2012 Prom Night
Prom…oh the memories it created for senior year. Brendan and I got all dressed up and took a bunch of pictures. At the dance people got rowdy on the dance floor as they were in iridescent lighting. We left and got ready for after prom and there were a lot of shallow people when it came to picking a prize. We went home and fell asleep but were woken up by the klunking of my mom’s Teflon frying pan as she was making breakfast. She kept nagging us to get up but we had only slept about 3 hours and we all know how much sleep teenagers need, my mom was really starting to irritate me so I just ignored her and went back to sleep until three o’clock Sunday afternoon. It was so nice to sleep for 9 hours…it’s the most sleep I’ve gotten in a long time. Prom 2012 will definitely be an unforgettable night.
